About the Event
The New Amsterdam Musical Association (NAMA) is preparing to celebrate its “Brownstone Ownership Centennial '' to commemorate the 100 year journey of of our pioneering Black founders purchasing and sustaining our headquarters at 107 W. 130th Street, a purchase made on June 26, 1922! In the midst of recovery from the pandemic and many other social changes in our community, 100 years of property ownership is an enormous achievement to celebrate.
This Gala will be held on Saturday, June 25th, 2022 from 4pm-8pm at The Harlem School of the Arts, 645 St. Nicholas Avenue by 143rd street, and hosted by Ms Sheila Anderson, a WBGO Jazz Radio personality, historian and Author. Additionally other activities will continue on the same weekend back at NAMA’s Historically Landmarked site.
We expect to be celebrating with numerous Harlem artists, musicians, residents, and supporters, funders, elected officials, media and our fellow business members. Our online media plan for this event will expand outreach to many new audience members city-wide. Soul City Broadcasting is already committed to live streaming these activities.
We look forward to your presence for a great day of celebration, fun and good times.
